I love my family and Jesus.  I hope that in loving them well, I can better love and understand the rest of humanity.

What's with the blog title?

I grew up in Wyoming, where tumbleweeds are prolific.  I met Husband while I was in college in Nebraska.  In the years since, I have come to identify with the tumbleweed.  My kids were born in two different states. We've lived in 4 states and 7 towns/cities over the course of our marriage.  Moving sucks.  I always hate leaving our friends/family/friends who have become like family.  But then we move someplace new and eventually make new friends, and it feels a little more like home again.

I like tea cups.  My Granny would always invite me to have a tea party with her when I visited.  Usually, it wasn't tea in the tea cups, but it was special.  They were pretty, elegant little porcelain cups with matching saucers.  We would sip our "tea" with our pinkies up and pretend that we were fancy.  In our house, tea cups are symbols of hospitality.  Both of my children have grown up having occasional tea parties as a way of making an ordinary day special.  They still get excited when I pull out our Franciscan Ware tea pot with its matching creamer, sugar bowl, cups, and saucers (a gift from my Granny).  We usually have our tea with Girl Scout cookies.

My hope is that this blog will be a place where we can chat about whatever, just as we would if we were sitting in my living room or around my kitchen table.  Feel free to take your shoes off or grab a blanket if you need one.

C'mon in and sit a spell.
